Ni de aqui, ni de allá (neither here, nor there), Proposing a third space where the boundaries of identity dissolve and something new begins."
Hugo Zelada-Romero is an interdisciplinary artist born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Zelada-Romero holds a BFA in photo media from Wichita State University. He has exhibited nationally, Mexico City, and internationally in print. His work considers notions of representation and perception in regards to information, identity and visual culture through lens-based media in a hybrid approach to art making, combining analog and digital practices and embracing the errors in translation inherent in this hybridity. His experiences as a first generation immigrant in the USA inform his artistic world view. Hugo is interested in the way in which images function as an expression of belief.
He currently works and resides in Chicago, IL
